International Labour Organisation Ilo

Working Papers from eSocialSciences

Abstract: Formerly entitled Global Employment Trends, the World Employment and Social Outlook – Trends 2015 includes a forecast of global unemployment levels and explains the factors behind this trend, including continuing inequality and falling wage shares. It looks at the drivers of the rising middle class in the developing world as well as the risk of social unrest, especially in areas of elevated youth unemployment. The report addresses structural factors shaping the world of work, including an aging population and shifts in the skills sought by employers.
