Abstract:
The present study examines the issues and propositions outlined above by analyzing the growth and structure of manufacturing industry in different states of India, in a comparative framework. It attempts an assessment of the contribution of industry to the interstate variations in the rates of economic growth. In the process it also analyses the differences in the industrial structure and factors responsible for variations in the extent and structure of industrialisation.
