High Achievement in Mathematics and the Girl Child

Abstract: This article reports on an investigation of the position of girls in respect of high achievement in mathematics. It is also aimed to collect and accumulate the reflections of of peopla asociated with mathematics teaching or research about such achievements of the girl child. Preliminary results show that girl children fare worse than boys in mathematics and the reasons need to be investigated. i
