Abstract:
The present study has been carried out in 10 states of India to assess the current situation and causes of child marriages and also to examine the implementation of Prohibition of Child Marriage Act. Government and non-government agencies are making serious efforts to curb the practice of child marriage however; a large numbers of child marriages are being performed on pious occasions in different parts of the country. Thus the study strives towards achieving developmental goals and particularly ensuring the child rights and reducing maternal and child mortality and morbidity.
