Abstract:
India today stands at a unique place in history: we are a young country a country that has seen the emergence of a middle class of over 60 million making it a hub of consumerism and private enterprise; a country whose economy has quadrupled between 1991 and 2011. The Census-2011 revealed a deficit of 7·1 million girls as against boys in the 0–6 age group, a sizable increase over Census-2001. This report details exploitation faced by girl children in India, and presents policy recommendations.
