Yasemin Inceoglu () and Inci Cinarli ()

Working Papers from eSocialSciences

Abstract: This paper aims to discuss how global media manipulate the “clash of civilization†based on Van Dijk’s analysis of manipulation mechanism, the limits of the principle of the freedom of expression and of the press, the consequences of editorial judgement and the importance of ethical responsibility in the global media. To this end, editorial conduct in dealing with the crisis, maintaining neutrality and credibility in controversial issues and finally the role of the media in starting a real dialogue between cultures will be analyzed.
