Abstract:
This study examines the nature of violence faced by lesbians in Indian society. Although there has been substantial theoretical and practical work on violence against women in India, the manifestations of violence against lesbian women have not yet been recognized, let alone articulated. The importance of this study is not only because it would be the first of its kind, but also from the perspective of working towards freedom from violence for all human beings. From this perspective, the urgency of such a study is precisely because of the invisibility of violence against lesbian women.
