Abstract: The double burden carried by women explains their chronic state of malnutrition, overwork and fatigue. Added to these are the stresses and strains of modern life, environmental degradation and increasing insecurity and violence. Here are examined the limitations of the health system and the consequent demands to recognize women’s right to health and healthcare as a fundamental right,and the state of women’s health and some of the underlying factors that determine it.
