Abstract: Economic forecasters may believe that interest rate changes by the Federal Reserve (Fed) reveal information about the state of the economy. If so, forecasters will update their forecasts of the economy based on this information; e.g. if the Fed cuts rates unexpectedly, forecasters may conclude the economy is in worse shape than they had previously thought.
