Thrift institution competition with commercial banks: empirical evidence
William D. Jackson
No 74-01, Working Paper from Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond
Abstract:
Several banking law changes have been proposed \"to increase\" competition between commercial banks (\"CB\"), mutual savings banks (\"MSB\"), and savings and loan associations (\"SLA\"). This paper will examine the empirical evidence concerning thrift institutions' effects on financial conditions generally, and particularly on CB activity, to determine the results of existing interindustry competition.
