Collaborative Community Development: Creating Linkages for the Future

Alfred Broaddus

Speech from Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond

Abstract: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for joining us here in Baltimore to discuss community economic development. We are here today because we know that we must confront the economic and social challenges of our most distressed urban and rural communities. For families who live where there is a critical shortage of decent housing and jobs, the 'American dream' is elusive -- and in a country and an economy like ours, this shouldn't be the case. We can change this. Working together, we can revitalize neighborhoods and create opportunities for residents to overcome economic and social obstacles.
