Abstract: Depuis le debut des annees 1980, l'hyothese d'hysteresis du taux de chomage a rencontre un grand succes. Ce que signifie cette hypothese n'est pourtant pas tres clair. Apres avoir distingue hysteresis et persistance, nous proposons une interpretation de l'utilisation de ce terme physicien en economie.
