Education and Economic Growth in Greece

Abstract: The paper investigates the possibility of overeducation and the role of the three levels of education of both sexes to the economic growth of Greece in the 1961-91 period. The main findings indicate lack of overeducation, intertemporal increase of the relative contribution of secondary and higher education to growth, apropos of the contribution of primary education, and an increasing role of educated women in the growth process, especially the role of women with a higher education.
