Studies on Wage Formation
M. Sovala
University of Helsinki, Department of Economics from Department of Economics
Abstract:
This dissertation consists of three theoretical essays. The first one, Chapter 2, uses a simple implicit contract model to explain why risk-neutral firms buy insurance policies. The them of the second essay, Chapter 3, is wage distribution and its links to different forms of childcare. The third essay, Chapter 4, studies the Finnish wage arbitration system. The analyses are based on the assumption of utility maximising behaviour. In this sense, the study belongs to the new generation of theoretical labour economics studies.
