The Internalisation of Economic Relations and the State

V. Fouskas

Working Papers from University of Hertfordshire - Business Schoool

Abstract: Firstly, I propose a general framework for the periodization of capitalist development during the 19th and 20th centuries. Next I will look at the economic functions of the state. The underlying hypothesis is that the state has lost relatively little real power vis-a-vis the one it used to administer in the past and that the distinction between Social-democratic Left and the Right Remains structurally unaltered. Also, I will put forward some theoretical considerations on the post-Fordist thesis conjunction with social/technical division of labour and the role of the media.
