Business Process Reengineering: Can It Work for Small Business?

Abstract: A survey on business process reegineering (BPR) was done in 134 Canadian enterprises. The collected data were submitted to a path analysis in order to test a model of the main determinants of BPR project success, and to compare the importance of these determinants in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises as opposed to large enterprises. The study confirms that the level of organizational support, the conformance to the principles of BPR and the diversity of the human resources participating in the project condition the attainment of advantages such as increases in productivity, higher quality of goods and services offered and cost reductions.
