Multicriterion Analysis Under Uncertainty: The Approach of Outranking Synthesis

Working Papers from Laval - Faculte des sciences de administration
Abstract:
The multicriterion analysis under uncertainty (in the sense of probability) has so far been treated nearly exclusively in the theory of the multiattribute utility framework that proposed multicriterion aggregation procedures that belong to the unique criterion synthesis approach. Yet, there is another approach, the one of the outranking synthesis that proposes procedures based on outranking relations, that imposes itself as a valid alternative. The purpose of this paper is to inform you of our tests to build outranking relations in a context of uncertainty. We will also take a look at the question of the value of the additional information if we use such procedures.
