Abstract: Nous voulons faire ressortir dans ce article que l'experience du Quebec en matiere de reorganisation du milieu de travail est unique en Amerique du Nord, en raison de la compelementarite des politiques gouvernementales favorisant la cooperation patronale-syndicale au niveau national, sectoriel et de l'entreprise, et du role actif joue par les syndicats dans la gestion de l'organisation du travail Changes in Canadian union density between 1981 and 1989 are analyzed into structural and behavioural components using the 1981 Survey of Work History and the 1989 Labour Market Survey.
