Abstract:
The claim that the values espoused by senior managers are important for explaining the way actions are organised inside organisations has been made by a number of organisational psychological reserachers. However, empirical reserach committed to investigating such a proposition has to date been limited. For example, in a small qualitative study Lerr and Slocum (1987) interviewed 75 managers from 14 vlarge US organisations about the types of HRM practices they used to reward managers.
