Abstract:
We first introduce in this paper the basic bottleneck model with one origin, one destination and one link. There exists an equilibrium for the time of usage. Then we introduce several day-to-day adjustment processes and discuss convergence. Convergence depends on key parameters. In particular we observe that convergence requires that the amount of heterogeneity in driver's behavior to be large enough.
