Abstract:
The paper begins with an analysis of the effects on employment stability of competition for labour between firms. The paper then proceeds with an examination of the role played by labour unions in british car manufacturing during the interwar period. The paper then presents and analyses some empirical evidence relating to several British car manufacturers operating in a variety of environments.
