R&D Spillovers to Agriculture: Measurement and Application

R.E. Evenson and Daniel Johnson ()

Working Papers from Wellesley College - Department of Economics

Abstract: This paper discusses the measurement of R&D spillovers (specifically spill-ins) to the agricultural and food processing sectors. We report measures of direct inter-sectoral and international spillovers based on the Yale Technology Concordance (YTC) and patent data for 14 less developed countries(LDCs) and newly industrialized countries (NICs). We also provide an application of this type of data to six-nation study of agricultural productivity.
