Subordinate financialization in emerging capitalist economies

Bruno Bonizzi, Annina Kaltenbrunner and Jeff Powell ()

No 26969, Greenwich Papers in Political Economy from University of Greenwich, Greenwich Political Economy Research Centre

Abstract: In the explosion of literature on financialization, there is a much smaller but growing interest in what the phenomenon means for emerging capitalist economies (ECEs) (Bonizzi 2013; see also Karwowski, this volume). Much of the literature that focuses on the advanced capitalist economies (ACEs) lacks a clear theory of financialization. This absence becomes even more problematic when the lens is used to attempt to describe and understand changes in ECEs.
