Abstract: " Objective - The Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale (RS) is a widely used instrument for assessing resilience and has been translated into several languages from its original English version. This study aimed to validate the Malay version of the RS to ensure its cultural relevance and applicability. Methodology - A total of 485 Malaysian undergraduate students participated in this study. Data collection was conducted via an online survey distributed on social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook, using snowball sampling. Findings - The findings demonstrated high reliability, with Cronbach's alpha values ranging from .68 to .87. Convergent validity was supported by strong positive correlations among RS dimensions (r = .64 to .86), and concurrent validity was established through significant positive correlations with the Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (SWEMWBS) scores (r = .49 to .59). Novelty - Factor analysis revealed two distinct factors, confirming the construct validity of the RS. Overall, the study emphasizes the importance of resilience for the mental health and adaptability of university students and affirms the effectiveness of the RS as a tool for measuring resilience in the Malaysian context.
