Abstract: The debate on economic calculation in socialist economics begins with the confrontation between Ludwig von Mises and O'Neurath. The definitive objection raised by economics against socialism is this: "it requires the renunciation of the intellectual division of labor that arises from the cooperation of all entrepreneurs, landowners, and workers, as producers and consumers, and which is realized in the formation of market prices" (Mises [1927] 1985). Mises, Ludwig 1985. Liberalism, Cobden Press, San Francisco.
