Abstract: We define first the knowledge capitalism concept (section 1) and, after, we give some ideas about its origin (section 2). We underline some specific characters from division of labour point of view (section 3) and the new wage relation (section 4).This article differs from previous presentations of knowledge capitalism by the introduction of historical system of accumulation concept. We suggest to define system of accumulation as the association between a production mode and a kind of accumulation. In this way, the industrial capitalism is characterized by the fact that profit derives from organization of work in manufactures. Knowledge capitalism is an other accumulation system in which the society accumulates knowledge and creativity. One of the main characters of knowledge capitalisme we underline is that production of resources is beyond the scope of firms. Competencies, subjectivities and, more generally, human capital, have not their only origin in firms. According to Perroux or to Schumpeter, capitalism is carried out in the private firm institution. In knowledge capitalism out-working and out-of-firm have an essential role
