Abstract:
Recent developments in the activity of European football clubs raise questions about features which seem to bring them close to big transnational firms. Whether it is a matter of players and coaches, mostly expatriates, or the clubs' financial assets, often held by foreigners, their production factors are increasingly international. Thanks to the retransmission of matches and media coverage, the services offered by football clubs cross national borders and their financing and management are increasingly global. These phenomena have led to some abuses (transfers of underage players, corruption, money laundering) which can be compared to the dubious practices of some large transnational firms.
