Abstract: A quick analysis of the most recent literature in economics shows a tremendous increase of the number of the articles using Genetic Algorithms. This tendency can be observed nearly in all areas of economics (from econometrics to finance). The aim of this article is to give a presentation of the main mechanisms of this approach and a panorama of its applications in economics. The article is completed by a significative bibliography.
