Abstract:
According to Swanson and Ramiller, IS professionals have a key role in the adoption of new organizing visions. In their research, IS practitioners are considered as a homogeneous group with fixed characteristics. In this paper, on the contrary, we put forward a system of professions, which evolves along the evolution of technology instead of a single group of professionals. We capture this evolution thanks to the concept of professionalization. We show that depending on the type of professionalization induced by the emergence of web technologies, the Organizing Vision will be perceived differently inside firms.
