Abstract: Statistical knowledge is challenged by its own progress. Inspirated by a panoptic model, it forgets its groundings (the equivalence notion) and the hide hard work that produces data. Our conclusion is clear: for statistics, the challenge is not that of the qualitative/quantitative opposiion, but the extension of statistical approach to inadequate territories. Only if this is admitted, some progress can occur, in improving data collectiion and methodological framework.
