Abstract: This study aims to analyse the relevance of the Marxian judgment about the inexistence of a true value concept in Aristote. We try to show that Marx, in spite of the questionable way of his interpretation of the Nicomachean Ethics, is right to emphasize the influence of the social and institutional framework on the questions formulated by the theoretician. On the one hand Aristote considers the value problem within the context of exchange, on the other hand Marx analyses the concept of value as a reality which emerges from production.
