Abstract: The article shows that the objective of development, "covering the costs of Man" as well as the principles of a gift economy recommended by F. Perroux in his work, L'Économie du XXe siècle can be identified in the Millennium Development Goals and in the propositions of the Millennium Project. According to Perroux, grants are presented by international experts as one of the most effective forms of official development assistance for the attainment of poverty reduction objectives set by the international community.
