Abstract:
This paper is in line with existing research works on innovative design. It aims at answering the following question: how to facilitate the valuation of the results from the function (I) by the NPD project, without to disturb the NPD project performance? This question was formulated after studying the RID model (Research Innovation Development) [1], and the articulation of the function (I) aiming at exploring new concept and knowledge, and the function (D) aiming at developing a product, by using existing knowledge. To answer this question, the RID model and the reason why the NPD project might be disturbed by the results from the function (I) are presented. Then, the paradigm of NPD agility is presented, as an answer to this question. After defining the capabilities of an agile NPD, as well as the agile practice areas to master to obtain an agile NPD, the maturity grid developed on this paradigm in collaboration with a consulting company, PCO Innovation is presented.
