Abstract:
The article studies how the strategies of actors contribute to make markets stable and open, going beyond the study of structural conditions and exogenous factors. The market dynamics is analyzed through strategic actions and reactions, both stabilizing and destabilizing, of diverse market actors (especially suppliers, customers and regulators). The case study is the one of the restructuration of the US defense industry after the end of the Cold War. It highlights the strategic dimension of actions of market's players without over valuating the stability of markets as processes.
