Abstract: The concept of model proposes a given and connoted representation of the organization which tends to privilege specific elements in a double movement: «elements of reality» tend to create a «model» expressed by a discurse based on these elements and, in return, this discurse tends to create elements of reality going in the same direction than this «model». Speaking of an organizational model based on competencies, is also quoting two dimensions of the competence today on the basis of a continuum between strategic formulation and human resource management. It is also necessary to indicate the importance given to this concept in «education sciences». Is it a concretisation of the old aphorism formulated by Jean Bodin when he wrote that «there is no wealth outside human beings»? The concept of competence is relevant for the theories of learning as well as for those of the labor within an organization. However, the notion is not so clear and it is why it does not seem useless to put it in perspective in a more radical way with that to knowledge.
