Abstract: Scientific management was an influential myth in the post-war reconstruction period. It is valued by academics because it gives management researchers the respectability they desire with regard to natural sciences and technology. But the continuous turbulences of our society of abundance have questionned this model leaving us without a precise idea how to replace it. This article proposes to explore an analogy with the world of art, art being at ease with the singularity that paralizes the representatives of scientific management. The example of l'Ecole de Paris du management may illustrate possible forms of creation and transmission of this sort of knowledge.

Keywords: Scientific management; the art of management; singularity; creation and transmission of the art of management; Management scientifique; management comme un art; singularité; élaboration et transmission de l'art du management; Ecole de Paris du management (search for similar items in EconPapers)
