Abstract: The increase in women labour force participation has contributed to include work-life balance issues into the family policies agenda. Whereas public forms of support to working parents are now rather well known, support offered by companies has been less explored. Using data from recent surveys on companies' work-life balance policies, this paper compares companies' support to parenthood in three countries, Germany, France and the UK, and gives specific attention to their institutional context. The way employers support their employees and the reasons they give to justify their support are examined. Showing that the management of parenthood now participates to their "corporate social responsibility", the paper questions what is at stake in terms of employment quality.
