Abstract: The appearance of a new form of shareholder activism called " engagement " leads to segment this process of contest using the two dimensions of engagement i.e. organizational engagement and social engagement. This new segmentation has the advantage of enhancing the study of the effects of shareholder activism on performance and on corporate governance. It takes into account the shareholders' competencies according to their level of engagement.
