Abstract:
The frontiers of the firm have attracted considerable attention from scholars in both economy and organizational theory. This issue is even in the background of most seminal contributions in strategic management. In this special issue, we have shortlisted articles that revisit this topic and we discuss here the five aspects that they all together consider : i) influencing the external environment, ii) insourcing and outsourcing of activities, iii) managing simultaneously competition and cooperation, iv) managing relationships within innovation clusters, iv) managing human resources at the border of the company.
