Abstract:
Proximities and inter-firm coordination : an empirical analysis of ski resorts'competitiveness This paper addresses the position of the ski resorts within the frame of the new integrated organisation of the moutaneous tourism industry. According to the approach of geographical and organised proximities (TORRE et RALLET, 2005), ski resorts are assessed according to the quality of their global and local arrangements. This approach appears to be useful to explain the performance gap between ski resorts. Four case studies give empirical evidence of different kinds of interactions and their consequences in terms of ski resorts'performance.
