Abstract: The aeronautical industry is experiencing a radical transformation marked by greater international openness, outsourcing and off shoring. Indeed, faced with crisis in their economic and industrial model, Boeing and Airbus have chosen to redefine the boundary of their activities with less reliable partners with regards to financial, industrial and organisational liability of activities previously carried out to a large degree internally and nationally. An analysis of these crises since the middle 1990's allows for a greater examining of the role of industrial and technological evolution within this structural transformation, which implies an internationalisation of production. This leads us to analyse the risks associated with the redefinition of relative roles of aeronautical manufacturers and their partners.
