Abstract: In the seminal texts justifying the European supports dedicated to agriculture before and after the entry of Romania and Poland in European, Union, the term of "transition" has successively reflected different phases of the European project for restructuring the farming sector of those two countries. However, the ambitions shown in the contemporary rhetoric of justification of the CAP 1st and 2nd pilar are only partially meat: if the dominant modernisation project seems in good way, the supports to sustainable rural development dedicated to the most peasant-like areas and farms miss their target.
