Abstract:
Although attempts of short food supply chains institutionalization are being processed, those chains keep being characterized by a weak role of institutional proximities. Those marketing strategies handicap indeed the institu tionalization. Spatial and relational proximities are conversely decisive. Especially, the relational proximity in short food supply chains could durably be a property, rather than due to a period of emergence. That specificity should lead to a specific way of supporting the phenomenon. The study leans upon the 2010 Agricultural Census and the first statistical study on a representative set of farmers in a French region: 500 farmers were interviewed giving information for 700 variables. 40 free interviews were used to complete some aspects which no variable could investigate.
