Abstract: Through functionalism, idealism and pragmatism, social scientists have analyzed the relationship between money, state, monetary policy, inequality and social conflict. These theories must be thoughfully analyzed, understanding the links between their ontology, their descriptive and their normative potential. After representing the main lines of these trends in the contemporary social sciences, this text will explore how these three elements play diffrently in the definition and analysis of what is considered today as a "financial crisis"
