Abstract: This is the first research dealing with next generation members' ambivalent emotions as a source of cognitive paradoxical tensions in the context of intra-family succession. We conducted exploratory qualitative research to highlight the ambivalent emotions expressed by a sample of 41 next generation individuals from Belgium and Luxembourg when speaking about the succession process and we identified the paradoxical tensions fostered by these ambivalent emotions at a discursive level.
