Abstract: The issue of which factors favour or constrain farmers' conversion to organic farming (OF) has attracted a large research interest (see for example the review by Géniaux et al., 2010). While technical and sociological determinants have largely been discussed in the literature, the economic aspect has received less attention in earlier studies.
