Abstract:
Since the seminal work by Zikmund and Stanton (1971), research into reverse waste logistics processes has greatly increased. In the household waste reverse supply chain, the consumer plays a vital role: collecting the waste produced at home, warehousing and sometimes sorting, and taking the waste to collection points. Through a qualitative study combining interviews and observation the aim of this article is to better understand the way in which households co-produce reverse household waste logistics processes. What are household practices in this area? How do they combine logistics activities? The results show the interconnectedness of bodily routines, mental routines and the use of objects in the process. This research identifies types of households according to how they manage their waste and methods of logistical organisation used by recycling households.
