Abstract: The paper presents Jules Dupuit's economic works. It shows its importance in the contemporary economic thought. Dupuit explained the consumers surplus theory before Marshall. He laid stress on price discrimination and emphasized that this practice could raise surplus. Dupuit established a link between price discriminations and product differentiations. He considered that the both were a very common practice in the real markets. They could be used as references for public monopolies. Dupuit acted also as a pioneer in fiscal theory (he explains a Laffer's curve) and methodology.
