Abstract: A regulatory device was set up in 2013 that mandates the reporting of CO2 emissions from carriers. This application is part of institutional pressures on firms. The results of qualitative research undertaken explain how companies have applied this new regulation and its impact on their CO2 practices. The results confirm that French companies are aware of the decree. However, the results show disparate application and a minor impact on their practices. This research identifies drivers and barriers for the application of the French regulatory process and opens new avenues for researchers' and practitioners' reflections.
