Abstract: This paper is a contribution to Knowledge Management as it examines the process of knowledge generation with regards to the question of understanding between the actors. The theoretical framework uses the knowledge boundaries in a pragmatic approach. After a six-month in situ observation, it becomes possible to underline the difficulties of mutual understanding between a designer and an architect. The role of visual artifacts then appears clearly in the mediation implemented by the actors themselves who are both constrained and driven by the situation.
